If you or a loved one may have hearing issues, it’s important to seek the care you need to hear your best. Hearing loss, when left untreated, can bring a host of complications that have some pretty unpleasant consequences for our health and well-being. Treatment for hearing loss is a crucial investment in your health, and Heritage Hearing Service will be there for you every step of the way.
We are proud to offer mobile hearing services to assist those who prefer not to travel to our office. We are based in Goshen, Indiana and we serve all of Michiana. We can provide the majority of services we offer at our office in your home or workplace, with the same level of care and quality.
Mobile services we offer include:
- Audiometric testing (hearing tests)
- Hearing aid fitment and programming adjustment
- Hearing aid repair
- Earmolds for custom hearing protection or hearing aids
- Hearing aid sales and financing
- Assistive listening devices (ALDs) and hearing aid accessories
- Earwax removal
- OSHA - hearing conservation programs
At Heritage Hearing Services, we know that hearing aids are not a “one and done” purchase.
Hearing loss treatment is an ongoing process that needs periodic attention to make sure your hearing aids are providing the assistance you need to hear your best. Especially in the first weeks or months of wear, you may require programming changes as you adjust to wearing your new hearing aids.
This is because hearing aids don’t work like eyeglasses. They don’t simply “sharpen” the sound and allow you to hear perfectly. Instead, they amplify desired sound and reduce background noise so that your ears take in more of what you want to hear. Then, your brain has to make sense of that sound. As you wear hearing aids, your brain will adjust to the difference in what you’re hearing over time. What may have sounded startling on the first day you wore your hearing aids may sound unclear in a few weeks, and your programming will need to be altered to reflect the changes in the way you’re hearing. This is a completely normal occurrence when you start to wear hearing aids for the first time.
That’s why it’s important to choose a hearing care provider who will be with you throughout the process, rather than sell you a set of hearing aids and hope for the best. Adam Thomas, the owner/president of Heritage Hearing Service, has nearly three decades of experience in the hearing care industry, and is a native resident of Michiana. It’s his mission to make sure you get the care you need, whether at the office or at your home.
Boothless Audiometric Testing
Audiometric testing is the clinical name for a hearing test. There are several kinds of audiometric tests that we may administer depending on your needs. What sets Heritage Hearing Service apart from most other hearing care providers is our boothless testing system.
In a typical hearing test, you have to sit inside a soundproof booth to minimize the degree of ambient noise—otherwise, you will not get an accurate result for your hearing test. Inside the booth, you wear a set of headphones while your hearing care provider plays various sounds in each of your ears and asks you to respond to what you hear.
At Heritage Hearing Service, our boothless system only requires that you wear a special set of headphones. The headphones themselves eliminate background sound, allowing you to take a hearing test in nearly any environment without the need of a soundproof booth. This not only makes it more feasible for us to offer mobile hearing services, but also means that we don’t need to clutter up your home or workspace with soundproofing materials.
Our boothless testing system provides the same accuracy of results as a well-implemented soundproof booth, only with a simpler setup.
OSHA Hearing Conservation Programs
Workplaces in which employees are exposed to sound at or above 85 dBA (decibels A-weighted) are required by OSHA to implement a “hearing conservation program.” This program entails provisions for hearing protection provided to workers at the employer’s expense, as well as annual hearing testing and education. Our boothless mobile hearing services are a great way to fulfill annual hearing testing requirements at your workplace. Call us today if you are interested in our mobile hearing services at your place of business.
